TLBHD - Thinner Lighter Better

Quick video comparison between 10 ,11.6 and 13.3 inch portable laptops

By Andrei Girbea , updated on May 19, 2012

I’e had quite a couple of different portable laptops on my desks these days, most of them from Acer.

I did not review too many Acer products before, mainly because I had no chance to get my hands on them, but also because i was not a big fan of their things, especially in terms of build quality and finishes. This changed lately though, as their products got quite better, as you’ll see in some of the reviews in plan posting in these next days.

Still, I did shoot a quick video clip today comparing a couple of portable notebooks and you can see it below. The video is a little bit shaky as I had to shoot and maneuver the camera at the same time, plus my mini “studio” is very cramped and had almost not space to properly show my creative side.

Still, you should get an idea on size differences, keyboards, trackpads and what you should expect from a glossy finish, compared to a matte one.

The 3 fellows staring in there were:

  • a black 13.3 inch Acer Aspire TimeLineX 3820TG (review to come soon)
  • my black 11.6 inch Acer Aspire 1825PT tablet netbook (details about it here)
  • a purple 10 inch Acer Aspire One D260 (more about this one soon as well)

Ok, that about it for today, if you have any questions or want to showcase some other aspects of these devices, let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

This project was born as part of my search for capable mini-laptops that I could easily lug around to work, and still provide the performance that I'd need on a daily basis. I'm primarily using such ultracompact devices and have been testing them since 2006.
