Well, I guess it was time for this to happen, with just one day before the launch of the Motorola Xoom from Best Buy. Wirefly.com comes with the unboxing of the Verizon version of the Xoom tablet- yes, the same Verizon who previously said you have to pay for WiFi. Anyway, here’s what’s in the box and how the world’s first Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet feels like. The actual box comes with a tablet picture on it and on the sides you get the logos of Motorola and Verizon. After you take the top off, you see the tablet-there’s no protecting layer or something, besides the plastic contour in which the tablet is placed inside the box.

It’s a big tablet, with a 10.1 inch diagonal screen, being somewhat bigger than the iPad, which has a 9.7 inch screen. Underneath the tablet, in the box you can find two compartments, one of them containing lots and lots of tiny, red-white manuals. After you remove the manuals, you can find a USB cable. In the other compartment, there’s the charger, which is quite bulky and has a flip out plug. Back to the tablet. First of all, you’ll spend a couple of seconds peeling the plastic layers from it, both on the screen, the back and the edges; basically, the tablet is cocooned with stickers.

So, on the back you have the 5 MP camera, which can record 720p video, while on the front there’s a smaller one for video calls. By the camera, there’s one of the speakers and the back has no kick stand. On to the slots. On the top, there’s a SIM card slot, which will work with 4G from Verizon in Q2 of 2011. There’s also an audio jack on the top, and on one of the sides you get a volume rocker, while the other has nothing to show off with.

On the bottom, there’s a micro USB connector, micro HDMI and the ports for a docking station and charger. Finally, the unboxer (nice job, dude) got the tablet running and we were hailed by a Honeycomb animation and a Start screen, with a drop down menu for language options. That’s it for now, enjoy the video unboxing below.
