Apple iPhone reached its 4th generation this month and it’s becoming more popular than ever. Despite rumors of problems with signal, millions of people already bought one and for the first time ever, I feel i could become an iPhone owner soon too.
I particularly like the form of the new iPhone; it looks more masculine, more solid. And the extra features it brings are more than welcomed too. Still, because it’s no longer rounded like before, that means cases meant for previous generations won’t probably work with this phone. And when paying hundreds of bucks for a device, it’s more than wise to get some suitable protection for it, whether a case, cover or skin. And high quality ones, that is a must.
For now, there aren’t many cool cases for the iPhone 4 available on the market, but all big producers are working on such covers. Belkin in fact announced 17 of them, including solid cases, armbands and leather sleeves, but other like iFrogz, Griffin or iLuv are not sleeping too. I would reckon there would be thousands of options by the end on the year, with prices from just a couple of bucks to hundreds of dollars.
Bellow you will find what I and other users consider right now the best iPhone 4 protection accessories, based on stat and reviews received. Check them out.
Zagg Full Body invisibleShield
The invisibleShield from Zagg is perhaps the best thin film protector on the market. They make them for all kind of devices and now they even have them for the new iPhone 4.
Of course, the Shield does not protect your device from shocks and drops, it is merely a thin layer between your device and the exterior, keeping it safe from scratches, dusts, smudges. The good part is that because of its profile, it does not make the phone bulkier.
The Full Body Shield, which consists of protection for both the front and the back part of your device, goes right now for $11.99 , with a pretty hefty discount.
Otterbox Defender for iPhone 4
When it comes for ultimate protection, there are no options better than the cases made by Otterbox. And out of them, the Defender is the champion. It does add a lot to the shape of the gadget, wrapping it in its protecting sheets, and it does come with a pretty hefty price. But, if you want your iPhone to be safe from drops, dust, or scratches, the Otterbox Defender is what you should have.
It actually comes with 3 layers of protection and has a solid rubber back and a thin film protector for the screen. A belt clip is included in the package too. As for the design, you can see from the picture below that the Defender it’s definitely not a ogre .
It is expensive though, will cost you around $49.99 + Shipping, but the legacy of this case speaks for itself and I totally recommend it.
Incipio dermaSHOT Case for iPhone 4
If you’re looking for a silicone cover with good looks and a decent price, this is one of your best options. The Incipio dermaSHOT is available in a couple of different colors (Black, Pink, Gold. Red) and it is a durable high density silicone case, able to protect your device from daily shocks and bumps. It perfectly snugs the iPhone 4 while allowing access to all its ports and the anti-static exterior coating make it just great against dust too. As for the looks, grab a look at the pic below.
Incipio sells the dermsSHOT for $19.99 right now, /w Shipping included, and that is a fare price for what it has to offer.
MiniSuit iPhone 4 TPU skin case
This case might not sound like much, but if definitely is a good buy, mostly because it’s very affordable. The Minisuit TPU case is made of clear plastic and offers decent protection for the body and screen. It is thinner and not as sticky as a silicone or rubber case, and being made out of TPU, can still make your iPhone survive a fall.
Overall, this is an efficient case. Not as good as other sturdier covers, but definitely sleeker. And it will only cost you around 7 bucks, with a bonus microfiber screen cleaner included.
iPhone 4 Firenze leather cover
With this case, we’re entering a more exclusive list of covers for the iPhone. Made of Napa and perforated leather, this is one of the best looking covers I’ve ever seen. It is designed as a flip-flop with a tab closure and it will only be available in brown or Gray/black, at least in the next months.
The Firenze is made by Case-Mate so you can be sure quality will be one of its top priorities. And like most leather covers, it will offer some protection, not as much as silicone or polycarbonate cases do, but will keep your iPhone safe, in style.
The Firenze will cost you $49.99 , with Free Shipping included in the US, a price i consider fair for such a cover.
Tuff-Luv flip-flop leather cases
Tuff-Luv also prepared some cases for the iPhoen 4 and they are from the same class as the Firenze above. Also made out of leather, also with flip-flop designs and also with an accent on style and design.
They are in fact handmade from high quality leather, come with press stud button closure and Lifetime Warranty (few producers offer such a feature).
That’s about it for now. Be aware that prices mentioned in this post were exact when I wrote it and they might have changed in time, as well as availability. Better check the link for each case to see the latest price at the moment you’re reading this post. And of course, more options will be available in the near future, as more cases and covers for the Apple iPhone 4 will enter the market. So be sure to check this post again from time to time, updates will follow for sure.
