Asus R052C spotted, is this the Euro version of the 1025C?

Austrian media online shop mediamarkt.de has a listing for a new Asus 10 inch netbook, named R052C, which seems to be nothing more and nothing less than the Eee PC 1025C we already reviewed here on the site. At the time, we couldn’t tell you an exact price and date for the Euro launch of this Cedar Trail powered 10 incher, as all we had was an intuitive price for the US market.

Of course, the netbook on the Austrian website is named differently than the 1025C, but that was always the case with Asus devices in Europe, especially in Germany and Austria. We usually use the US names of mini netbooks, as most of our readership is from the US, but it’s pretty clear that this 319 euros priced netbook is the 1025C we talked about a few weeks ago.

Just to give you a reminder, the netbook comes with a Cedar Trail platform inside, namely the N2800 dual core processor, running at 1.86 GHZ. Not much better than Pine Trail in this regard, but at least the new integrated graphics will be able to offer a better HD experience. Which you might want to enjoy maybe on an external display, as the R052C keeps it medieval with a 1024 x 600 display, with essential tech details rounded up by a measly 1 GB of RAM and a 320 GB HDD.

The netbook features Asus’s new design, Flare, which means that the mini laptop will have a more slender, ultrabook mimicking figure, without being much lighter or slimmer at its thickest point. The R052C should be available in a number of different colors, including pink, blue, black, white, gray, brown, red and purple.

The Asus RO52C will be available also in purple

The netbook should be available in Italy soon enough as well, as Italy is one of the good territories for Asus, so it will be interesting to see how much the device will cost somewhere else across Europe. Also, we don’t know if the R052C will be offered with an upgradeable battery, as the stock 3 cell juice maker might put many buyers off.

That’s all we have for now, but let us know if the machine is available in your territory and we’ll update the post accordingly. If you forgot what the 1025C/RO52C is all about, check out the video review below.
Enjoy.

Update from the Netherlands: 1025C is available now at Computerland & Paradigit for 319 EUR. The specs say it’s a N2600 1,6GHzs / 1GB / 320 GB / with a 6-cell battery. Asus Benelux confirm it should have the N2800 processor. I’m confused now…

A few words to  the Asus Eee PC R052C (it is a zero, not a O):
I’m just back from my local dealer and I’ve checked the R052C: it is the 1025c for 99,99% (except the name).
I’ve also checked if there is a chance to easily change the memory. No way!!! This is a no-go, isn’t it?
I don’t have experinces with a 1GB RAM netbook running Win7 starter. Is it really such a big problem to run this system with 1GB RAM???

    Thanx!

yep, it’s mostly gonna suck with only 1 GB of RAM but if you’re a bit more patient than I am, might be alright..

Just to let you know: I’ve just ordered a R052C and a 2GB module form the german amazon website, after I have seen the italian teardown video for upgrading RAM on a 1025c . I will keep you informed about upgrading this unit with the new RAM module :-) Hope it works ! (pressing thumbs and knocking on wood :-) )
Oh, and the german amazon website says it has Intel Atom N2800, 1,8 GHz, 1GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Intel GMA 3650, Win 7 StarterMaybe I try to make my own tear down video with the R052c

If you’ll do that, I’ll love to feature it on the site (even host it on our youtube account if you don’t have your own). Plus if you want to share some words on the process with the other readers, I’ll gladly put a post together on the site ;)

      Anyway, fingers crossed :P

Sure. If I have the time to do, I will!

        Hello there,

sorry I wasn’t able to make a tear down video (and also that was better…). Okay, first of all, the R052C is the same netbook as 1025C, as you can also read in the manual (PDF) on the first page :-)
        Is
the memory soldered? NO! Is there a chance to upgrade memory? YES, I
did, BUT unfortunately the port of the flat cable for front LEDs
and touchpad get damaged while removing the cable and so they don’t
work anymore. And also two very tiny plastic parts where broken while
        removing the keyboard.
At least I can say, that the 2GB memory where functional (I have seen it in BIOS and Windows).
        You
should only open the case and change memory if you are familiar with
those tiny cables and stuff inside :-) (I thought that I am …) Be
        patient (I thought I was…) – So I really recommend don’t open it!
        Now
I have a lot of electronic garbage at home :-( because of loosing the
warranty (I’ve removed the sealed screw “if removed warranty will gone” :-)
Okay now I will order a new one, and don’t upgrade the memory
(at least for the first time) and use the old 6-Cell battery, HDD and
power adapter as spare parts :-)

These 1025s have been supposed to be released since 2011, and while the 1025c has only been release in a few countries, there is still no sign of the 1025ce yet. What’s going on here?
